ADAM BERGSTEIN – GAMING RONIN
Hello, my name is Adam
Bergstein. I have been working in the video game
industry for quite a few years now. My primary tasks
have been coding and analyzing games, but I prefer to be
on the creative end of things more than the quality
assurance end. For me, games aren’t just a job, they’re
my absolute passion, and I consider myself lucky enough
to have been able to directly influence some of the
newer games we all know and love.
Currently, I live in New York City and do freelance and
contract work for some of the biggest names in gaming. This
kind of work allows me to not only help develop games, but
to play many new games before they even hit the market!
Because of my nomadic work schedule I often consider myself
somewhat of a modern day “gaming Ronin.” When I’m not
working on creating games, I can usually be found playing
games. I have every major system console, and divide my
time equally between them to the best of my ability. I
don’t really have any “favorite” platforms- just favorite
games.
I also collect and actively play with “vintage” gaming
systems, like Atari, Nintendo, NES, Nintendo 64, Sega and
Colecovision. I even have a 1988 Tandy desktop to play
vintage DOS based games on floppy disk.
I’m also a HUGE fan of the ABC television show “Lost” and
run a fan site called Lost: Beyond the
Looking Glass dedicated to spoilers, gossip and idle
chatter about my theories of the show. I am eagerly
awaiting the beginning of the new season, airing in
February of 2008, and enjoy scouring the net for teasers
and other fan theories.
My other favorite pastime (which I seldom get to do
anymore) is snowboarding. I even run a snowboarding
website, [Adam-Bergstein.com
with a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way.
My favorite snowboarding spot in the world is Provo
Canyon, UT, at the Sundance Ski Resort (owned by
Sundance Foundation founder Robert Redford). I hope to
finally head back there this winter if the conditions
are good. Unfortunately, global warming seems to be
drastically shortening the season, at least here in the
Northeast!
I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me, and spend
some time checking out my site. For proprietary reasons, I
can’t talk about games I’m working on in any detail, but I
have seen enough and played enough to have culled some good
insights into the gaming world, and set this site up with
the hopes of sharing that with other fans.
